Nuclear Fusion was invented by scientists with a god-complex. Apart from it being a source of energy it led to the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which was textbook genocide.

The Cold War hinged upon ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. Even today these missiles remain negotiation material from the perspective of “my gun is bigger than yours so I’m right.” It’s a coercive force used in international conflicts by nuclear nations.

But what about peaceful appliances of this technology? Well as of today, there is still no vial solution for discarding of the waste material produced by nuclear fusion. We are poisoning this planet.

Is nuclear energy necessary? Definitely not. With solar and wind energy or even making use of ocean currents we can supply the entire planet with sufficient energy given enough investment.

For instance, the Sahara region is comparably poor but incredibly hot and mostly uninhabited. Installing solar plants here would generate income for the entire region thus making energy an export product. This would bring currency to inhabitants and raise their standard of living and make the region competitive.
